Child Start Inc. is a single purpose, federally funded program that provides comprehensive preschool services for 318 low income children between the ages three to five and their families.
With a focus on school readiness, Child Start Inc. works to enhance each child’s social, cognitive, and emotional development. Head Start welcomes children with special needs! Health Office staff work closely with families and local medical and dental providers to ensure all children are up to date on age appropriate preventive care. Children attending Child Start Inc. are served healthy meals that include meals that meet Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements and include fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Child Start, Inc. services are designed to be responsive to each child and the family’s ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
Missoula center-based options are offered at four locations:
1. Whittier School (1001 Worden Avenue)
2. Bethel Church (1601 S 6th Street West)
3. Convergence Church (3020 South Avenue West)
4. Bonner School (9045 Highway 200)
Program options include full day (Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 4:30); extended day (8:30 – 2:30); and part day (8:30 – noon or noon – 3:30).
Child Start Inc. also offers a home-based option for families residing in Sanders County. This option provides weekly home visits by teachers with a focus on child development and parent-child interactions. All home based families gather weekly for a parent-child socialization activity.
